Treatment for Axillary
hyperhidrosis & excessive underarm sweating.
Axillary hyperhidrosis is excessive sweating
of the underarm. In many cases it is accompanied by palmar hyperhidrosis
or sweaty palms. Excessive armpit sweating is associated with over
activity of the sympathetic nerves that stimulate the sweat glands.
Excessive sweating may occur with or without stress or anxiety.
Problems with axillary hyperhidrosis
are mostly social ones. The mechanism of sweating is involuntary
and is not under one’s self control.
Medical deodorants are very
effective in treating axillary hyperhidrosis. Botox or surgical
resections of the sweat glands by liposuction have also been used
to treat this condition. Sympathectomy
is also effective in treating axillary hyperhidrosis especially
when it occurs in combination with excessive hand sweating.
